The 922-acre forest managed by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is located in the towns of West Sparta, Groveland, and Mount Morris and offers a rustic experience with a limited amount of development. The Genesee Valley Greenway State Park passes through the forest, following the remains of the Genesee Valley Canal and of a major branch of the old Pennsylvania Railroad. This forest shares a common boundary with Groveland Correctional Facility. Watch for eroding trails and note that regulations differ between these areas. Users should remain aware of which unit they are on.
